For generations, the Buttazoni steel construction and montage company plant has been located in Himmelberg in Carinthia, near the Nockberge national park, the Turracher Höhe, and the ski resort Kaiserburg – Nockberge. The firm is well known through the countless steel structures in Austrian architecture, of which the owner of Buttazoni is a connoisseur and fan.
Armin Buttazoni’s vision was to add a company apartment in the existing roof of the 170-year-old main office building. And he wanted it to be contemporary, futuristic in Carinthian terms, and visible from a distance. It should offer a symbol for architecture and for the firm.
Two flanks expand the perforated steel waler, which the roof formally penetrates, to a spacious, light, loft-like apartment. The thusopened areas are closed again with an aluminum façade including overhanging terrace and aluminum portals.
